The extraordinary meeting between the Mercosur Consultative Economic and Social Forum and the European Economic and Social Committee was held at UOCRA Central venue.
Uruguayan, Paraguayan, Brazilian and Argentinean representatives were present in this important event.
The meeting was coordinated by Gerardo Martinez UOCRA General Secretary and CGT Foreign Affairs Secretary, received participants on behalf of the Argentina pro tempore Presidency of the Regional Forum. It was dealt with the strengthening and participation of the Organized Civil Society in the Regional Integration Process, the dimension of Sustainable Development of European Union Relationships – MERCOSUR, as well as Civil Society participation in Collective Bargaining Processes between the European Union and the MERCOSUR.
It is worthwhile highlighting the presence of Dimitri Dimitriadis, President of the European Economic and Social Committee, since it is the first official visit of a representative from the aforementioned Economic Committee.
Dimitriadis expressed his wish to promote a Social and Economic Committee in Argentina with the idea of strengthening the dialogue and reinforcing relationships.
As regards MERCOSUR and European Union bargaining, he showed optimism about its advancement and future.
