The UOCRA is on the alert to DEFEND BUILDING WORKERS´LIFE

Continuous breach of prevention and labour safety rules in the workplace, that daily causes building workers either death or inability, has people to blame for:
* Employers who don’t respect prevention and safety rules.
* The Government of the City of Buenos Aires, who should exercise the labour police power in time, interrupting those workplaces where there are risks due to any breach.
We demand effective action, no opportunist explanations:

  • Businessmen must prioritize that building processes be carried out in accordance with all prevention and safety rules pursuant to law.

  • Some death occurred due to wilful negligence and the famous phrase “nothing will happen”, because there are some employers who, in spite of knowing that any breach can bring about a worker’s death, commit it anyway.

  • The competent authority must effectively exercise the labour police power in the city, using the information available to detect construction work sites and coordinate a workplace inspection when workers are in action. For that reason, it is highly important that the responsible in charge of the labour safety programme developed by the company be registered under affidavit when the construction work permit is granted, being this premise essential condition to start any building process.

So as it is today, things do not work: We cannot accept a building worker dies at workplace because of unscrupulous corporations and lack of control.
Building workers have no second chance.

UOCRA, though it has no police power in labour safety matters, will go on denouncing any breach detected to commit itself to the union permanent action defending the health and life of building workers, without replacing the inherent responsibility of employers and competent authorities

We want community members to be part of this initiative in favour of life, and offer our toll-free line: 0800-222-3871.

From our trade union activity, we desire full employment for the building workers, but with safe work practices, responsible employers and a State who is present and guarantees the labour relations.
